"He who has health, has hope; and he who has hope, has everything."
Thomas Carlyle

Do you know why chiropractic is not just about spinalcare and back pain but more about why you should have regular adjustments to spinal biomechanical lesions/subluxations??

Skilled chiropractic adjustments of the spine and joints stimulate the mechanoreceptors (good guys) of the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints.  This has multiple effects on our nervous system.  For example, when there is a decrease in alpha motor neuron and muscle spasm activity, stimulation of these mechano-receptors lead to an inhibition of the nociceptors (bad guys).  This can not only limit pain, but can balance out any over stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system by this nociception input.  Over stimulation of nociception can lead to a number of dysfunctional activities of the body (e.g., constipation, indigestion, irregular heart beat, bed wetting, changes in blood pressure, decreased proprioception which leads to decreased sports performance and increased injury, etc.).

How? Mechanoreceptors stimulate the thalamus (relay station) which then stimulates the periaqueductal gray which stimulates the nucleus raphe magnus which inturn leads to post-synaptically inhibition of the nociception.  This is not to mention the effect on the hippocampus, cerebellum, sympathetic chain ganglia, hypothalamus, amygdala, vagus nerve, and left pre-frontal cortex to name a few!!!!

Ok, that was a bit much! But the next time someone says they don't "believe" in chiropractic, remind them that:

"Chiropractic is not a religion to "believe" in, but a science to live better with."

Wishing you the best in wellness,
